SUNY Playing Games again at LICH?

It's up.  It's down....It's up....It's down...And LICH vs. SUNY ain't over yet.

Hospital operator SUNY diverted ambulances from Cobble Hill's LICH again last week, claiming there weren't enough specialists on hand.

Infuriated hospital workers called the claim "BS."

After a 2-day stoppage, ambulances resumed bringing patients to LICH again on Friday.

SUNY, trying to close LICH since this February, is facing a contempt hearing on Nov. 18 before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Johnny Lee Baynes, who has ordered hospital services to be maintained where they were on July 19, when SUNY began trying to cut them off.

If Justice Baynes rules for the plaintiff hospital staff and community advocates on November 18, it could mean fines or even jail time for the Health Dept. officials behind the state's excruciating slo-mo assassination attempt on LICH.

While the LICH emergency room remains open, patients needing more than basic life support are being diverted to other area hospitals.
