Pianist Maxim Anikushin at Good Shepherd

At 7 PM on Friday, March 27, Russian piano virtuoso Maxim Anikushin returns to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, at 7420 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge, for Art on the Corner's 10th Anniversary concert series.

The program will include works for piano and organ by J.S. and C.P.E. Bach and piano works by Beethoven, Giustini, Nino Rota, and Adolf Henselt.

The suggested donation is $10 pp.

Commenting on Anikushin's New York debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 1999, New York Concert Review's Harris Goldsmith called the pianist "one of his generation's most important."

Art on the Corner artistic director Rita Pihra-Majurinen, praising Anikushin's "exceptional talent", called the performance one "you don't want to miss." 

A Moscow native, Maxim Anikushin began studying piano at age five. He entered the Moscow Conservatory at age 11, studying under Y.I. Batuyev. After emigrating to the U.S. in 1991, he studied with Milton Salkind at the San Francisco Conservatory. He completed bachelor's and master's degrees at Juilliard as a scholarship student of Oxana Yablonskaya, and is currently a DMA candidate at The Manhattan School of Music, studying under Solomon Mikowsky. The recipient of numerous awards, his international performance schedule has included Alice Tully Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium.
