The Zellner Brothers touching absurdist odyssey stars Rinko Kikuchi (Pacific Rim, Babel) as a Japanese woman who believes that the movie Fargo is a true story.  On impulse, she abandons her structured life in Tokyo to travel to rural Minnesota in search of her fortune.

This weirdly touching character study evokes earlier Zellner films Goliath and Kid-Thing in its focus on terminally solitary individuals led into pathetic, delusional quests. The Zellners' strongest emotional achievement, Kumiko takes their style to a new level of sophistication.
