Norman Oder's Park Slope Tour

Veteran Brooklyn tour guide Norman Oder, proprietor of tour company New York Like a Native, will lead a wide-ranging tour of Park Slope, which some call the city's best neighborhood, highlighting its history, residential and commercial transition, and evolving Zeitgeist.

Oder, whose knowledge of Brooklyn the Wall Street Journal calls "encyclopedic", designs his mostly walking and public transit-reliant tours to be wider-ranging and faster-paced than the average guided tour.

Geared to energetic, independent-minded people, including student groups and delegations, Oder's tours go beyond the usual sights to provide a multi-faceted -- historic, cultural, commercial, residential, and political -- view of the neighborhood.

The Park Slope tour will leave at 1 PM on July 19 from the Brooklyn Lyceum, at 227 4th Avenue (R to Union, corner of President), returning to the Lyceum at 3:30 PM.

Tickets are $20 advance and $25 at the door, and include a free drink (soda, water, coffee), free food (pizza, ice cream, bacon cheddar biscuit) and a discount on Roxy's Tee Parlor tees.
