Arzt: Matz Was Hynes' Campaign Adviser

The Post reports that campaign spokesperson George Arzt, deposed this week in the $150 million lawsuit filed by the exonerated Jabbar Collins, corroborated a city Department of Investigation report that adviser Mortimer Matz attended weekly campaign meetings with former Brooklyn D.A. Charlie Hynes and his top deputies.

According to DOI investigators, Matz was paid out of drug forfeiture funds.

Hynes’ lawyer and Matz' allies maintain that Matz worked for the Brooklyn D.A.'s office, not the Hynes campaign.  But according to Arzt's deposition, Matz was present as a campaign adviser at "most or many" of the campaign meetings Hynes held last summer in Manhattan at the court officers union.
