NBG 2014 Events Calendar

The Narrows Botanical Gardens has posted its 2014 summer/fall events calendar on its Facebook page.

Here's the list so far:
  • Annual Spring Plant Sale, Sunday, May 18 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (No rain date). Just in time for spring planting, the NBG greenhouse is offering specimens and seasonal selections, and in connection with the city Partnership for Parks, is co-sponsoring the PFP Tree Giveaway Program, offering free trees to property owners through the Million Trees initiative.
  • Free Outdoor Movies.  Bring a chair or a blanket. All movies will be screened on Friday nights at sundown. Bring kids 45 minutes early on family nights to enjoy planned activities. In the event of rain, call 718-748-4810 for updates. Here's the 2014 summer lineup:

  • Live Performance
Shakespeare in the Park presents Othello
on two weekends –July 19 and 20 and July 26 and 27, featuring John Stillwagon and his “Act Out” troupe. Check for Facebook updates. 
Poetry Reading with Jessica, Sunday, September 7, 3 – 5 PM Hosted by a Bay Ridge author. Pre-registration opens August 15. Contact information for Jessica will be posted at that time.
  • Harvest Festival. Sunday, October 13 (Rain date October 20) Noon - 5:00 PM. NBG's most popular event of the year, featuring the annual Canine Costume Contest and an array of crafters and artisans. Check Facebook for information and updates.
All events produced with the support of the NYC Parks Department, the Parks Foundation, and the Partnership for Parks. 

Every Saturday, NBG volunteers gather at 10 AM at the Native Plant Sanctuary at the Narrows Botanical Gardens, on Shore Road at 71st Street in Bay Ridge, to maintain and work on garden projects. All are welcome.
