Bay Ridge Hosts 2014 Art of Brooklyn Film Festival

Council Member Vinnie Gentile, a longtime friend of local arts and culture, has announced that Bay Ridge will host the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival this year.

After a kickoff at Borough Hall on Sunday, May 4, AoBFF, which runs from May 7-11, will head to Bay Ridge, where films will be screened on the following dates:
  • Thursday, May 8 @ PS/IS 30, The Mary White Ovington School, at 415 Ovington Avenue (@4th Avenue);
  • Saturday, May 10 @ Brooklyn One Theater, St. John's Parish Hall, at 461 99th Street (near the entrance to Fort Hamilton.)
The only Brooklyn-centric film festival and the first major, borough-wide platform for indie film makers, AoBFF was founded in 2011 by Brooklyn-based artists.

The festival, said executive director and longtime Bay Ridge resident Joseph Shahadi, was conceived as a forum for Brooklyn's many overlapping demographics, bringing together the newer, "artsy" Brooklyn with the older, "classic" Brooklyn.
