Commodore Barry Club Honors Joseph Sokoloski

Commodore Barry Club President Mary Nolan presented Joseph Sokoloski with this year's Commodore Barry Award at a festive St. Patrick’s Day breakfast at Brooklyn Borough Hall hosted by Borough President Eric Adams.

Sokoloski, whose Irish heritage comes down through the Fitzgerald side of the family, is a former New York Times office manager who is active in St. Rocco’s, St John’s and Our Lady of Czestochowa Churches. He is director of Park Slope's St. Rocco’s Senior Citizens’ Center and sits on Community Planning Board No. 10.

Also honored at the breakfast were Tablet editor Ed Wilkinson, who received the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre award; Peter Sweeney, winner of the William T. Bellard Award; and Mae O’Driscoll of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center, the recipient of the Paul O’Dwyer Memorial Award.
