NHTSA's New Year's Eve Designated Driver Campaign

With New Year’s Eve just five days away, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Ad Council are calling on revelers to plan ahead by designating a sober driver before the evening starts.

The NHTSA has teamed with crowd-speak platform Thunderclap to create a wave of attention at 2:30 PM on New Year’s Eve, and is recruiting people to sign up through the platform to release a tweet and/or Facebook post of support.

Everyone’s posts will be released simultaneously on New Year’s Eve, creating a virtual flashmob. You can sign up for the Thunderclap here

Ask your networks to take the New Year’s Eve pledge “I am celebrating #NYE2014 safely by planning ahead and designating a sober driver. #BuzzedDriving is Drunk Driving” and share these tweets and posts in the run-up to December 31.
