Brooklyn Reading Works will present "Soft Shadows: a Celebration of the Short Story", as a Brooklyn Book Festival Book End event, at 8 PM on September 18 at the the Old Stone House, 336 Third Street (between 5th and 4th Avenues) in Gowanus/Park Slope (R to Union Street/F to 4th Ave.)
At the event, short story writers Dawn Raffel, Gregory Spatz, Clifford Thompson and Ron Parsons will read and discuss their work. Audience members will then be invited to share their favorite published short stories and read the first paragraph open-mic style.

Thompson is an essayist, fiction writer and painter. His essay
collection, Love for Sale and Other Essays, won the Autumn House Press

Parsons is the author of the new story collection The Sense of Touch
from Aqueous Books.
Brooklyn Reading Works' Louise Crawford, who blogs at Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn and runs Brooklyn Social Media, hosts.
The $5 suggested donation includes wine and snacks.
Books will be signed and sold.
The Brooklyn Book Festival on September 22 is New York City's biggest free literary event, presenting an array of national and international literary
