Updates from the Abe George Campaign
From 4 to 6 PM on May 18, Real Housewives of New York stars Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen will host a campaign fundraiser at their home in Cobble Hill to support Democratic reform candidate Abe George in the race for Brooklyn D.A.
Contributors at the $500 level will receive passes to a VIP pre-party with Alex, Simon and the candidate.
Tickets available here.
Stumping through Brooklyn
George has been campaigning through the borough's diverse neighborhoods, from Bed-Stuy to Bushwick, meeting with and listening to ordinary Brooklyners.
Between an ongoing series of campaign house parties, meetings with local civic groups, and early morning literature handouts, George says he's spreading the word that, after 23 years of Charlie Hynes, Brooklyn deserves a new DA.
Op-Ed on Condom Arrests
Last week, the Village Voice published George's op-ed piece calling for an end to the practice of arresting suspected sex workers for condom possession, calling it "dangerous and counter-productive."
Issues like this highlight how proactive law enforcement leadership and common-sense reforms could make Brooklyn safer for everyone, George said.
