Security Cams Approved for Two Fifth Avenue Locations

The New York City Police Department has approved surveillance cameras for two locations on Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge: one at the intersection of 72nd Street and the other at the intersection of 76th Street.
Local City Council Member Vinnie Gentile, a senior member of the Council's Committee on Public Safety, allocated $100,000 for the cameras in last year's budget.
State-of-the-art video surveillance is expected to enhance security on this active stretch of Fifth Avenue, the source of ongoing complaints by residents about street dealing and other crimes.
Gentile lauded surveillance cameras as having revolutionized crime detection.
