Yogis Host Fundraiser for Rockaway Surfers

After Hurricane Sandy wiped out the Rockaways in November, the Rockaway Beach Surf Club, a resilient bunch of local surfers, sprang into action, becoming Rockaways' nerve center for Sandy relief.

Now, when donations and media coverage have waned, people like Angelica Olstad, founder of Pop Up Yoga NYC, which brings yoga to urban spaces, are stepping up.

On Wednesday, March 27, Pop Up Yoga will host a fundraiser for RBSC at Modca Cafe, 103 North 3rd Street (between Berry and Wythe, near the Bedford Avenue L Station) in Williamsburg, featuring a pop up yoga class (BYOM) at 7:30 PM and a DJ after-party at 8:30 PM. Winners of the online raffle will be announced at 9:30 PM.

Local vendors have donated raffle prizes, including an in-home dinner for two prepared by a private chef, giftcards for local restaurants, clothing and skincare shops, private yoga lessons, and much more.

Proceeds of the event will go to RBSC to be used for tools, supplies and building materials for the Rockaway Beach recovery effort.

RSVP here.

Bring friends, win great prizes, and be part of the solution.
