Puccini in Flatbush

Revolutionary "indie opera" company OperaOggiNY will present Giacomo Puccini’s Suor Angelica on Sunday, March 24 at 6 PM at the Flatbush Reformed Church, 890 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn (B,Q, 2 or 5 to Church Avenue).

Now in its fifth year, OperaOggiNY offers an exceptionally talented group of performers under the artistic direction of Maestro Thomas Lawrence Toscano.

Puccini's Suor Angelica, second of an opera trio called Il Trittico, begins as a snapshot of life in a 17th century Italian convent, portraying a lively and diverse group of nuns. The radiant Sister Angelica, who emanates divinity, is adored by everyone.  But her sisters furtively speculate about her secret past.  Little do they know that a woman who knows Angelica’s secret has just arrived – and what she tells Angelica shakes her to her very core.

Maestro Thomas Lawrence Toscano brings to vivid life this beautiful tale of one woman’s heart-breaking past and powerful redemption.

Tickets: $20 General Admission. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or online.
