Summer Stroll is part of "Summer Streets", an annual citywide event sponsored by the city Department of Transportation, which creates temporary pedestrian plazas during designated summer weekends.
The Third Avenue Merchants Association has filed an application with the DOT for a permit to close a section of Third Avenue from 68th to 90th Streets to vehicular traffic on four nights: July 19 and 26 and August 9 and 16, to create a pedestrian plaza on Third where strollers can dine al fresco and enjoy live music and other entertainment.
Community Board 10's Traffic and Transportation Committee will hear the application on Tuesday, February 5 at 7 PM at PS 102, 211 72nd Street in Bay Ridge. The committee will make its recommendation on the application to DOT based on input from the hearing.
