The "Ladies of Vanse" Visit Bay Ridge

On Saturday, November 17, a group of 32 women from Vanse, Norway, Bay Ridge's Norwegian "Sister City", will visit the neighborhood to explore its Norwegian heritage, shop, and enjoy the food.

This is the women's seventh trip to New York City and their second Bay Ridge visit.

Norwegian specialty shop Nordic Delicacies, at 6909 Third Avenue in Bay Ridge, will host a meet-and-greet with "The Ladies of Vanse" at 9 AM, followed by a drive on Shore Road and a visit to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, founded by Norwegians more than 125 years ago.

After shopping on Third Avenue and lunch at the Danish Athletic Club, the women will join the annual Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner at Christ Church.

Vanse has a long-standing love affair with Brooklyn.  A supper club there called "Eighth Avenue" is named after the onetime main drag in Brooklyn's Little Norway.
