Interior Demolition

The photos of the Green Church at left were taken this evening on my way home from the subway. The first photo shows the doors on the Ovington side nearest to Fourth Avenue. As shown in the photo, the stained glass window lights above the doors were removed today and replaced with sheets of plywood cobbed together.
The second photo shows the second set of church doors on the Ovington side, nearest to the parking lot and the former Methodist parsonage. As with the set of doors in the first photo, the stained glass window lights have been removed and replaced with a sheet of plywood.
The third photo was taken from Fourth Avenue. It shows the front doors to the church, facing Fourth Avenue. As with the two sets of doors on the Ovington side, the stained glass window lights above the doors have been removed and replaced with sheets of plywood.
The fourth photo was also taken from Fourth Avenue this evening and shows the back corner of the church facing the former Sunday school building and 72nd Street. As you can clearly see, a full-length stained-glass window was removed from this casement. A sheet of plywood was nailed up inside the casement opening.

All of these changes occurred today, and confirm that interior demolition -- at least as I would define it -- is underway at the Green Church.

It is expected that work will resume tomorrow morning.

According to Committee sources, DOB has not issued an interior demolition permit for 7002 Fourth Avenue.
