CB 10 Zoning Committee Meeting June 11

Representatives of the Committee to Save the Bay Ridge United Methodist Church will speak to the CB 10 Zoning Committee at their next meeting on June 11 at 7 pm, at 621 86th Street.

For further information about the meeting, please contact Carolyn DeLuca at CB 10, 718-745-6827, e-mail bkbrd10a@nyc.rr.com

The Committee seeks the support of CB 10 in asking the State and National Registers of Historic Places to trigger the review process provided by Section 106 and Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The Green Church, in the State and National Registers of Historic Places since 1999, falls under the protection of the NHPA.

Based upon all of the input we have received at the many community events we have attended over the past year, we believe that there is broad-based support in this community for saving and re-using the Green Church. The Community Board is the local body that could best exemplify that support.

Rumor has it that the congregation has issued an invitation for bids (IFB) seeking a contractor to demolish their landmark building by no later than July.
